Eritrea is an interesting and beautiful country which deserves to be more widely known. It is surprising how few people even know of its existence! If you mention the name “Eritrea”, the response is often a look of puzzlement followed by the inevitable “Where did you say?” Others confuse it with its larger neighbour, Ethiopia, much to the chagrin of  Eritreans themselves! I have taken an interest in Eritrea for a number of years now, and was recently privileged to visit  the country and its capital city, Asmara, with my wife Jan, in March 2009. This page is one small attempt to bring Eritrea and Asmara to the attention of a wider audience.
